K-POP Dance & Merchandise

Kpop Nonstop is a Swedish organization with the vision to spread Korean culture in Europe through entertainment events with Korean music, culture and lifestyle. Since they started year 2012, they have organized many successful k-events such as dance clubs, concerts, workshops, meet& greets, dance classes and much more. They are currently organizing K-dance by KNS Academy, K-Pop dance classes every semester in Stockholm. K-Dance by KNS Academy teachers welcomes you to dance K-Pop during dance workshops. Everyone are free to join the workshops! Each workshop will be 45 minutes where you will be able to learn a part from a famous K-pop song. There will also be a K-Pop random dance play where they will play short sections of K-pop songs, and if you know the songs you can join and dance to it! Hanbok is the traditional attire of the Korean people. Worn daily up until just 100 years ago, these days it is only worn on festive occasions or special anniversaries. It is a formal dress and most Koreans keep a hanbok for special times in their life. Although hanbok have become the ritual dress of choice worn only on traditional holidays, Koreans' love for hanbok is tremendous. The popularity of Korean historical dramas is causing many foreigners to take a keener interest in traditional Korean attire as well.

Hangeul Class
by Koreanska Skolan Förening Korean school is a Saturday school where you learn the Korean language mainly, but also learn more about Korea - primarily its culture, customs and practice. The school was initiated in the late 1960s and early 1970s by some Korean immigrants in Sweden. They realized the importance of maintaining the homeland language. These are the activities they will do: *The Korean Alphabet activity is about learning the Korean alphabet. You can also make your own bracelet in Korean. *Learn simple Korean sentences. *Try calligraphy and paperfolding with Hanji (Korean handmade paper). |

Hanji is traditional handmade paper from Korea which is made from the inner bark of Paper Mulberry, a tree native to Korea that grows well on its rocky mountainsides. In the past, people used it to cover their door frame or to record various documents.
Traditional Korean patterns are based on Korean culture assets such as structure, clothes, porcelain and so on. They can be categorized into many shapes by character, nature, letter, geometric, etc.
At this year's festival, visitors will have the opportunity to try making coasters with Hanji (traditional Korean paper) or coloring traditional patterns.

Korea Tourism Organization is NTO(National Tourism Organization) for promoting Korea as a destination for tourists. They provide you useful travel tips and general information about Korea. You can get a variety of leaflets and booklets for free. There will be also a calligrapher who will write the name of visitors in Korean letters. Their major activities will be;

Mudo Taekwondo
by Jipyo Lim Taekwondo, an Olympic sport since 2000, is a Korean martial art, characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. It was developed during the 1940s and 1950s by various martial artists by incorporating elements of karate and Han Chinese Kung-Fu with traditional Korean martial arts traditions. Mudo means 'knighthood' in Korean, and they want to show you how to practice! |
Östasiatiska museet (National Museums of World Culture)
The National Museums of World Culture (= World Culture Museums/Världskulturmuseerna) is a Government agency under the Ministry of Culture. The task of the agency is evident from the Swedish Code of Statutes instruction SFS 2007:1185 and Annual Appropriation Directions. The instruction states that the National Museums of World Culture is responsible for displaying and bringing to life the various cultures of our world, in particular cultures outside of Sweden. Furthermore, the agency is to document and illustrate different cultural manifestations and conditions as well as cultural encounters and variations from a historical, contemporary, national and international perspective. Finally, the agency shall promote interdisciplinary knowledge and various forms of public activities. The agency head office is situated in Gothenburg.
Agency activities are carried out at Etnografiska museet/Museum of Ethnography, Medelhavsmuseet/Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities and Östasiatiska museet/Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm as well as Världskulturmuseet/Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg.
This year, 2019, the National Museums of World Culture is organising and hosting a program with numerous events and exhibitions focusing on Korean art and culture to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Sweden. For this, the National Museums of World Culture is collaborating closely with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korea Foundation. With over 1000 Korean objects in its collections, Korean art and culture are well represented in the museums belonging to the National Museums of World Culture. In particular, the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, which manages over 500 Korean objects and has a Korea Gallery, has been significant in fostering cultural and scientific exchange between the two countries.
At the Korean Culture Festival, you will have a chance to explore the Korean collections at the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities (including objects currently hidden in storage) through a web application and ask questions to a museum staff. You will also be able to find out more about current and upcoming exhibitions and activities related to Korean art and culture taking place in the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities.
